If you are really into remote diving you should get your own gear, arrange a car and drive to Port Pegasus. Being this solitude it is one of the best places to dive with curious seals and sea lions, but also Stewart Island's famous kelp forest are abundant here. You will spot many trumpet fish, sea horses and blue cod, making it very suitable for macro photography as well.
